Amy Poehler Returns to TV in First Look at New Comedy From Parks and Recreation Boss Michael Schur

Amy Poehler is digging into her big TV return.

The Saturday Night Live alum has reunited with her Parks and Recreation boss Michael Schur for the new comedy Dig, and Peacock just dropped a first look at the series, which is co-headlined by House star Hugh Laurie.

Dig follows a team of dedicated archaeologists and some less-enthusiastic college students as they spend the summer working an excavation site in Greece. When they discover a rare artifact, they end up on the adventure of a lifetime.

Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas, and Fina Strazza join Poehler and Laurie in the main cast, while Kayvan Novak, Jon Pointing, and Bonita Friedericy are among the guest actors.

More than a decade after wrapping the beloved seven-season run of Parks and Rec, Poehler and Schur teamed up to write the Dig pilot episode. In a fun twist, Schur will be serving as showrunner alongside his wife, J.J. Philbin (The O.C.).

Poehler was Emmy-nominated six times for starring on Parks as Leslie Knope, another individual way too devoted to their job. She’s been quite busy since Parks signed off in 2015, between reality-show hosting, animated voice work, and her successful Good Hang podcast, but post-Parks, this will be her first live-action leading role on TV. (She returned to the Wet Hot American Summer universe with two Netflix series.)

As for Schur, after writing on The Office and co-creating Parks, he continued his hot streak with The Good Place and then reteamed with Ted Danson for Netflix’s A Man on the Inside.

The 10-episode first season of Dig premieres Nov. 23 on Peacock.
